user-fa71fc9 in Germany sold me a fossil agglomerate. It was a fake (fossils crudely cemented together) and the cement was pulverized during transit. Seller refused to refund or even submit a postal claim (required by seller in international shipping) and Catawiki refuses to help. LOST $350 - Catawiki is a SCAM!!!

It is a big scam! A dodgy website was set up to scam money. Their experts are too self centered, selfish and not not trustworthy with their decisions. They are racist and they could be discrimitave towards to the sellers.

Do not buy expensive items. Catawiki cannot guarantee anything. The “experts” do not revise nor guarantee anything. If you have problems there is no way for rhis organization to help you solve the problem. “Custer support” answers with already made answers totally useless

I have had some successful purchases. However, I have now had my second bad experience and the response from seller was disinterested and Catiwiki simply dont respond. Basically I was sold Murano seconds for a master craftsman price.

So the (negative) feedback given by customers can be changed into neutral or even deleted by Catawiki upon request if the (untrustworthy) seller. Obviously Catawiki needs sellers for their income out of the 9 % buyer's AND 12 % seller's fee (though large sellers have far lower fees). This is scandalous and a mockery of the feedback system, untrustworthy sellers can do whatever they please. This notarial oversight is a joke. So I wouldn't recommend this site, too many rogue sellers and a fake feedback system.

I have maid a negative evaluation for plausible reasons. CATAWIKI have simply hidden the comment !

Sellers can ask Catawiki to delete or change negative feedback given to them, i most cases Catawiki will change or delere the negativecfeedback so the sellerd remains at 100 % "positive" feedback. This is a massive fraud on yhe buyer by Catawiki! So stay clear of this scam site!

Ordered a diamond and the seller placed wromg adress in order for the item to return to him. I made many attempts to open a case before the funds got release to the seller but no one answered. I had to make a call in holland to make them freeze the funds and open case. When i opened the case ,no one replied to my messages to cancel the order. I took my refund 40 days later when i send an email to threat them that i will open a case for internet fraud with my bank. Stay away

Extremely bad experience. Nobody ever replies to any customer questions. So called experts are a real joke. Fake india based copies sold as antique. Avoid that!

Exactly same experience of Catawiki support, that doesnt exist at all! I have sent several questions, nobody ever replied. Why one would pay 9% commission of getting just very bad customer experience. Fake india based products presented as antique, really experts at work there... And you just pay for bad experience.

My original lot said: Belgium - Early 19th century No. of items: 3 Object: Candlestick, Crucifix (More lots) Material: Iron (cast/wrought) Estimated Period: Early 19th century Country of Origin: Belgium Condition: Good condition - used with small signs of aging & blemishes Set of two candlesticks and a crucifix. The crucifix has a height of 39 cm and a width of 17 cm. The foot is 12 cm by 12 cm. The candlesticks are 15.5 cm high and have a diameter of 5 cm at the top and a foot diameter of 7.5 cm. The foot shows the country where it was made, namely West Germany. ______________ I'm hard pressed to give this even a 1 star review. I replied to the buyer and catawiki the same day I got the items, with pictures of truly fake claims. They were chrome plated items, painted with some gold antiquing to make them look older. The crucifix is not cast iron, it's some heavy metal with chrome and paint. No way to know if it was actually "from Belgium", and the candlesticks obviously did not match (I knew this from the picture) and had maker's marks from West Germany (in English!). If there had been a picture of the makers marks (which any expert is completely unable to evaluate without this), they would've easily seen the cast molding, chrome plating and modern maker's mark from either the late 20th or early 21st century. A piece of tape lifted off the gold paint from the object, to reveal the chrome. Catawiki wrote: Thank you for getting in touch with us. Due to an unusually high volume of requests our aim is to reply to your message within three business days, our sincere apologies. We will contact you as soon as possible. ______________________ They've now taken over 2 weeks, and claimed they never received the original email with pictures, but I have proof I sent the complaint to the buyer, with pictures on the same day. The buyer told me he "didn't know" and said he'd contact Catawiki to refund my money. He never did so (of course). Catawiki leaves no paper trail on their own website. You can't access anything you wrote to them. But you can access what you wrote to the buyer. With the 3rd Catawiki email they sent me, they did not include the first email complaint I sent - only the 2nd and 3rd, claiming they "never got the pictures." Then they said they needed pictures and a response, in ONE DAY, or they were closing the case. This case is still unresolved, and it's now been 19 days.

I purchased a trumpet from a seller listed in Bulgaria, lot posted from Germany and instrument case clearly identifies it as belonging to a music school in Essen. Stolen, confirmed with music school. Multiple messages sent to Catawiki. zip. Nada. No response. Similar problem with a lot arriving broken a year ago. Bunch of sheisters acting as fences for thieves and fraudsters.

Non-existent customer support. Most of the times you get no response. And if you do, it takes 3+ weeks for an answer. Platform is unreliable on the features you can use, sometimes you can message seller, sometimes you can't. When you can, most times you get no response either. As sellers don't seem to bother about clients. For Jewellery, most things do not come hallmarked and not authentication certificate is provided.

Awful experience - I am still trying to get money back from them, when products are advertised as sealed on their site and yet they are not. The fact that they are advertising products as sealed when they are not is against the Trade Descriptions Act 1968 which prohibits false trade descriptions.

I made an order from catawiki and got sent an empty packet without the diamond. I made contact with Catawiki who said i will need to take the issue up with the seller and offered no other help. still awaiting feedback from seller. i would advice any potential customer to stay well clear of buying anything from Catawiki.
