“The Custom Rod building kit that supplements holding the fly rod while wrapping the guides did not work AT ALL. The threads on the "spool holder" never came close to to tightening and subsequently did not achieve the purpose it was designed for. I resorted to the "Book Method" for tension and it worked great!! save yourself some $$$ and don't order this product.”
“I first heard of Mud Hole from something I seen on a face book post back in 2014. Told the wife that taking the class would be neat. Just to learn how to build a fishing rod. She purchased a class for me to attend in Ohio the winter of 2015. I have been hooked ever since. Have seen almost every episode of the Mud Hole live shows. Been to Florida to see there old show room. Have not been there to see the new one, but will some day. Mud Hole has been amazing to deal with. The customer service is always helpful to me if I have a problem or just to answer questions. I would say shipping could be better, but it is what it is. Overall if I could give them 10 stars I would. Thank you Mud Hole and all the people that make the company.”
“TWO MONTHS AND NO DELIVERY OF MY ORDER. I purchased the MHX Turnkey Fly Rod Building Kit as a gift for my son in march 2021. Two weeks passed and no order. I checked the order status online and it showed “Pending Fulfillment”. I sent Mudhole a note online and they responded that my order was back ordered. Why they could not tell me that earlier I do not understand. I waited a few more weeks and no delivery. I sent another note on April 14 and they responded they were waiting on one part that should be on by the end of the month (April). April 30 came and no further contact. I called the company and they told me they were reengineering their kits to replace the motors that had a tendency to fail and it would be two more weeks. This is a good answer, but why could they not tell me this earlier or put it on their website so I could decide not to order. I asked if they had any plans to DISCOUNT my order or provide any other INCENTIVE for me to continue to WAIT and they said NO. As this was a gift and something my son really wanted, I had no option but to wait. I was told the order would be ready in a few weeks. IT IS NOW TWO WHOLE MONTHS AND NO ORDER AND NO CONTACT FROM THE COMPANY EXCEPT WHEN I CONTACT THEM. Their CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS. I recommend FINDING ANOTHER VENDOR for your rod building needs. I ordered from them before and that order was delayed also and I live only 4 hours from their offices. It is the END OF MAY 2021 I am still WAITING FOR MY ORDER. I guess they figure my $229 is just a gift. They seem quite happy to have my money in their BANK ACCOUNT making interest instead of it being in my account. DID I MENTION THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS?”
“I have order from these guys for about a year and a half and bough mix series rods and the components and the one 6'6 med light rod I built for flounder and all I was amazed with it and my two 6' trolling rods are awesome ive caught everything from striper to black tip shark at va beach and ill tell you they are better than penn rods that I used to use. The guys at mud hole do a grrat job with the videos they do i love the service so far I haven't had ant complaints about.”
“Placed an order, but forgot an item. The order did not ship yet and I called their 800 number within 24 hours of placing the initial order. I asked them if they could add that additional item to my original order. The rep on the phone refused, telling me I have to place a new order and pay the extra shipping/handling. Poor customer service!”
