I have totally enjoyed Carol Ann Duffy's class on Poetry Writing. She is clear, brilliant, modest, humorous -- she connects. She's taken my understanding of poetry in new directions, and made deeper connections. One of the best courses I've ever taken.

Many writers i respect recommended Alan Moore's course and I'm so glad I watched it. He is an amazing storyteller and an engaging lecturer. I laughed out loud several times and love that though he is best known for a certain type of genre and medium in comics, he has a huge range of books that he uses as examples. I added so much to the TBR pile, including many authors I've never heard of before. There's a lot of practical advice here, told in a memorable way, and I think beginning and more experienced writers can learn something new.

Some big names heading up lessons on here and a good spread of categories. The tech and clarity of videos is really good and one day you can be learning to bake bread and the next writing a blockbuster novel. To get 5 stars they just need to increase the number of lessons, which I'm sure will come with time.

I absolutely loved this course which sincerely aided my comprehension of not just how to write a gripping story but also how to prepare both practically and emotionally for the publishing process. With extensive wisdom, a humble persona and a wonderful voice, I felt like Ken and I were good friends by the end of it! Thank you very much BBC and Ken Follet.

I started the course only recently, so I have many episodes yet to view. However, I am very pleased with the course so far. Ken Follett explains everything in a very clear way, and he is motivating and inspirational. It's a very good course. I am very much looking forward to the next episodes. Ken Follett speaks to the viewer as though he were a friend. Mr Follett is very pleasing to listen to. The course is informative.

I got to know BBC Maestro through Oliver Burkeman's Imperfectionnist posts. I personally find his course to be practically useful. The short video format is easy to fit into daily life. I have since watched Tim Spector's nutrition course, Dr. Rangan's four pillars of health and Richard Greene's public speaking course. They are all useful. I am currently watching Alan Moore's Storytelling course and find it inspiring. I also have not finished the Breathing course.

Maestro 'Writing Poetry' is intimate, friendly and enlightening. For somebody who has written all their life, both professionally and for fun, it's a pleasure to find oneself guided by a voice of wisdom. Carol Ann Duffy is a gifted teacher and the BBC have created a perfect opportunity for people with many levels of familiarity with the subject. I attach the first poem I have ever written about my childhood. It's more fun than a video review.

Unlike other similar offerings from around the world, this is more than an endless stream of experts having a superficial chat. These are deep lessons from a carefully curated selection of elite teachers. Less is more. BBC does it again.
