“The installation is not good. The beam was great but the website said it would come with comprehensive fitting instructions. It was just a box with the beam and fixings - no instructions. I had to search the web for the installation video. I have seen other products such as this - where there is a plate - this is just three spikes - it is very difficult to align these - they are self stated elliptical - so even if you drill the holes accurately it can be impossible to match the three holes - There are so many easier engineering solutions to this - you guys must be mad to scrimp on this easy one.”

“Excellent. Never fail to deliver superior quality beams. This is the second time I have used cottage beams. 3 years ago and recently in the last month after moving to a new home. The quality of the work is exceptional and the wood is fantastic easy to fit with screw holders at the rear as long as all level. There is a natural wood split in my new beam which is great as it shows authenticity in the wood itself as you will see in the pictures. I went for the white oak which just compliments the new fire place recently fitted. Thankyou so much again. Regards Pdevereux”

“Loved the beam. Looks amazing. Sturdy and easy to install. It doesn’t get 5 stars because the log came with a prominent split. While this is to be expected - the split is long and wide. Like I say, the beam looks great and it fits perfectly. Shame about the split”
