“I tested the esim travel simcard in my home country Germany. at the time of testing it offered the best no frills esim deal if you need a moderate amount of data. I got 3gb for 8 Euros for 30 days. I was booked into the vodafone network most of the time, but speeds were rather slow. I am not referring to download speeds, but instead reaction time speeds, despite full signal strength. oh well. What bothered me was that there is seemingly a DNS filtering active that I was not able to influence.
For example, I was not able to use the Edeka app which I use for payment in Edeka supermarkets in Germany. if I switched to wifi or my primary sim card (local Telekom), there was no problem using the app at the same time and location.
All in all okay, for email, surfing, whatsapp etc. but other travel esim providers don't have the mentioned limitations, albeit for a higher price. So it ultimately depends on your priorities.”

Roaming services can be slower than local services due to increase latency, but the difference is generally not that noticeable, so we will mention this too with our network partner.

It take a little while to get your head around multiple SIMs, but you soon become an expert. Remember to keep your eSIM for your next trip, but disable it to save battery. “The SIM is convenient and easy to use when abroad, the only issue which makes no sense to me, is that you ask users to scan a QR code in order to set up/ activate the SIM. Each time I've bought an easySIM I've done so on my mobile device, as it's the last thing I think of when travelling. If I'm purchasing the SIM with my mobile, how am I expected to scan a QR code with said mobile. The manual installation instructions do not work on my Android device (Google Pixel) and each time I've had to rely on the help of strangers in a new country, by sending them a screenshot of the QR code and scanning it from their phones. As you can imagine, this is not very convenient, especially in a country where you don't speak the local language. It would be helpful to find a better solution.”

We understand your frustration with scanning a QR code from the device which receives a QR code, a problem shared with most eSIM providers. This is why we added a "copy" function to help manual configuration. Going manual is a little fiddly, but it is well documented in our Android instructions. Please contact our support if you would like assistance when you next upgrade your phone.
Unlike other eSIM providers, you only need to install your eSIM once, it is yours to keep (as long as you use it occasionally).
