“Make sure you have a really good LEVEL concrete foundation. Make sure you have a mate to help you. Make sure you have at least 4 hours. Read instructions carefully and identify pieces BEFORE you start. It is very difficult to make it watertight once you have erected it against a wall! Good alternative to a wooden shed. We put a peg board on the back wall to utilize the space better. Didn't bother with a padlock. If someone wants to get in, they only have to undo a few screws on the side panel”
“Highly recommended for anyone wanting to invest in an out building or shed, Fantastic service with speedy delivery time. Need a day off work to put shed together but totally worth the money.”
“We have received two sheds from Elbec garden buildings and they delivered when they said they would, and we are very pleased with the quality of the goods. We would be very happy to buy from again.”
“Quality of building is very high and staff were fantastic during the ordering making sure we had everything. Arranged delivery easily and delivered as arranged (he could have done with a second man to help). Easy to put up and looks amazing.”
“We ordered a 10'x8' summerhouse from Elbec Garden Buildings because their list price was £200 cheaper for a Shire building than other suppliers. They kept me informed right up to the delivery, which was well within the informed time slot. I'm glad that I elected to assemble the building myself because it meant that I could treat the timber with wood preservative. It took more than 20 litres. The quality of the wood finish is pretty rough in quite a few places. This maybe ok for a garden shed but not a summerhouse. So quite a bit of 'fettling' was needed to remove these rough edges. The window beads were even worse, but because they give you plenty of spares you can select enough to do the job. Apart from these few negatives, the summerhouse is a resounding success and we are really glad we bought it.”
“From order to delivery I can only rate Elbec very high! The website is easy to navigate and the ordering process straightforward and their pricing is good, too Delivery dates are adhered to and drivers friendly and helpful Have used Elbec on several occasions and will probably use them again in the future”
“Managed to erect it in a week-end with the help of a friend. The finished product is of excellent quality but one word of caution; after three weeks, when strimming the lawn, a flying stone shattered the side piece toughened glass in a million pieces - a costty £65 to replace! Question; Why is their no warning of this eventuality in any of the blurb ? Advice to prospective buyers - "Don't use a lawn strimmer within firing range or at least cover the glass with a piece of plywood"”
“Great product that was fairly easy to put together with clear instructions, needed two people though for most of the build. Floor gives that extra protection for items stored and transparent light roof lets you see all.”
“It would be helpful if he screw holes were pre drilled. Because the diagrams were not clear I drilled holes in the wrong place. Also It was only after I had erected the shed that I spotted the comment about sealing the joints - This should have been at the start of the instructions!!”
“This has been an excellent experience from start to finish. The delivery took place as arranged and I would have completed construction in one day if it had not been for the weather. Good quality materials and the instructions were simple and easy to follow. I can highly recommend the product and the company”
“Bought a 5' by 4' Elite Streamline Greenhouse in a brown finish with toughened glass from Elbec. They gave me the best price compared to any other distributor. Delivered on the date promised. Extremely pleased with it. High quality items which went together very well and it looks superb. However it does take a weekend to construct! I would thoroughly recommend one purchased via Elebec.”
“Very impress with the company and their service. Simple straightforward website without useless bells & whistles. Great unbeatable pricing. Shed arrived earlier than promise. Good quality product.”
“Set up on concrete fence post ,followed instruction,up and finished in two days on my own very happy with the quality and price ,now being used for garden tools have added a work bench shelving and lights.”
“Delivery came on time and the chap backed into our drive and we offloaded the timber in good weather, into my garage. This was essential as I am sure it would have got wet over the next few weeks as it rained frequently. Whilst in the garage I was able to give all the timber 2 coats of preservative (awkward due to space issue but managed it). My cabin was 8ft x 14ft pent type and I used 25 litres of clear solvent based wood preservative (took an age to do it all). Unfortunately I hadn't decided upfront what sort of stain to use on the wood so there was a delay whilst I trialed a few different ones (not easy as most suppliers don't do sample pots). Eventually settled on a water based natural oak stain. The can recommended 3 coats of stain but I was also aware that there was some potential for swelling of the wood after soaking up of the stain and then the joints would not fit together during construction, I therefore decided to construct first and stain second even though I could not do 100% coverage after construction. This was a shame as I wanted to make a really good job of the staining/protection. Construction went well (3 days) and staining was much easier after construction (20 litres). I had quite a lot of wood left over after construction?? All materials were supplied including nails and screws and door fittings etc My advice to anyone planning to buy a cabin is, think about the preserving and staining upfront and also consider the time this takes, Ensure you can protect the wood from the elements until you are ready to build.and be aware of the extra costs of preserving and staining, then go for it. Good Luck.”
“The guy who delivered the kit was Eastern European and didn't speak at all except to say sign when he had unloaded the truck. The kit itself was all there. One criticism I have is that the instructions should be more tailored to the kit. For example: There was a section devoted to the construction of the floor , which was not relevant as the kit composed of two parts already assembled. This applies to the side ornamental panels. This would allow larger pictures and instructions for the remaining processes and assist the constructor. Another point is there should be clearer instructions for the roof assembly, particularly regarding the position of the curved timber to the cog. Perhaps a timing mark{painted line} across the roof timber and cog to show exactly where the alignment is correct. Overall I am pleased with the result, but it took a bit of time to get the roof correct. One other point is I would suggest either paint or treat the wood prior to applying silicone or alternatively use acrylic sealant, so it could be painted over.”
