“I wanted a phone for my teen that didn't have social media but not at a huge monthly cost. I got a great deal during Black Friday and I'm surprised how good the Genesis 1 phone is. My teen went from an Iphone 12 to this and she was impressed as well. There are so many good app options and customization features.”

“My experience with Pinwheel, a month or so in, has been largely positive. It can be challenging to get certain apps, like WhatsApp, on the device, but the Support Team is really helpful and very responsive. We have managed to give our daughter a cellular device without exposing her to social media…which is great!”

“I love the idea of Pinwheel but they do have some kinks to work out. Their telephone customer service is top notch. Recommendations: Easy navigation from all the Pinwheel urls to each other. A link to the caregiver portal from the main page seems like an easy fix A couple introductory videos or even webinars to help new caregivers and users get acquainted with the system Don't just market this to kids. I think an adult version would be super helpful to those of us with ADHD and likely others too.”

“I love the peace of mind with my child's use of a smartphone. There are so many risks to giving a child a smartphone or similar device, and I love that I can check in with the dashboard whenever there might be a concern. As a parent and child therapist, I love that I can expand her limits and freedoms with the device as she gains more responsibilities. There are some glitches with the system that I wish would be fixed such as sometimes her phone will stop working and she has to reset it and even restart it before calls and texts will go through. Sometimes her pictures from approved contacts also will not go through. The apps are limited as she likes to have some things that are trending or popular with her friends such as games. But for the most part, the apps I want her to have she has access to. Although I am glad I can read all messages, even if they are deleted, I wish there was a flag or alert for any deleted messages. I also wish for some alert or flag for certain words or phrases that parents could customize. I want to respect her privacy by not reading her messages, but if there was a concerning topic I would want an alert so I could look into it such as "suicide". Overall, this is better in my opinion than giving her a regular smartphone with parenting settings that I have seen many teen clients hack very quickly.”
