“Sean from USIT went above and beyond to make sure I secured a place on the J1 program. Organizing and making contact with US employer and Sponsor can be quite difficult and stressful. Sean Tyrrell took over my case when I was having difficulties finalizing my papers. He was absolutely excellent, I would recommend to book your spot on USIT early, especially for J1 hotspots like Chicago, NYC, Boston.”

“USIT were a complete joke from beginning to end, do not use for your J1. Myself and my friend applied for USIT in January when it was clearly advertised on their website that they had jobs available in the 'hotspots', ie, Chicago, New York, Boston. After paying the initial €100 we were informed that these jobs were 'limited'. We decided to pay the €200 to gain access to the job hub and the reality was they didn't exist. There were two job drops for Chicago after we signed up, both which had such high demand their website crashed. We then applied for other jobs in locations we were not happy with, none of which we even got interviews for, despite having 3 years experience in hospitality. Fortunately, we were successful in finding our own jobs outside of the hub so we contacted the USIT team and were told we had passed the deadline for this. After ringing their helpline we got through to someone who told us if we got the forms filled out by our employer ASAP we would be able to proceed. The forms were returned 4 business days later. We received an email two days later informing us they were not proceeding with our visa application as we had not returned the forms, claiming we had received them two weeks prior, both which was simply not true. We phoned them again and after explaining the situation to 3 different people before getting through to someone who could help us, we were told that the forms had been received but we were not at the top of the priority list and that there were 100s of other students in our position, which is disgraceful. We were also told that at that point it would take too long to approve our employer. After finding another sponsor company last minute (who approved our employer in less than a week) we ended our progress with USIT. We were told we would receive a refund of €50, that was 3 months ago and we are still waiting on our refunds. The treatment of students is ridiculous and the lack of communication is shocking. Beware of all the ADs on social media promoting this company as they are all paid and based on our experience with USIT are clearly not true.”

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are genuinely sorry to hear how stressful your J1 process felt and that we fell short of your expectations. We fully understand how important this opportunity is to students, and we sincerely regret the frustration and disappointment you encountered. We would like to clarify a few points regarding your application timeline to provide some context. You joined our programme on 16th January and gained access to the Job Hub on 29th January after your second payment. The first job interview you scheduled was on 27th February, however that employer later informed us they were no longer hiring, and you were officially declined on 17th March. You applied to additional employers on 18th March and 29th March, but unfortunately one was non-responsive and the other expired before review. On 4th April, you reached out to let us know you had found your own job. Regrettably, the Own Job deadline for the Job Assist programme had already passed at that stage. We acknowledge that this deadline was not clearly communicated to you, and we recognise this. Following a phone call, our team made every effort to process your employer documents, which you submitted on 14th April, but due to the timing and sponsor constraints, we were ultimately unable to proceed. You requested a refund on 22nd April, the refund confirmation was sent with the applicable terms and the payment of the €50 refund has been issued. We absolutely recognise that delays in communication and the stress around employer approval caused significant frustration. For that, we are truly sorry. We are currently reviewing our communication processes, especially around employer deadlines and job hub expectations, to ensure future participants have a clearer and smoother experience. “Christina was spectacular. She was very patient with us. We had endless questions and endless needs. Nothing was too much for Christina and the USIT Team. She made sure we had eligible and qualified candidates. This was our forth year with J1 Visas. It was the strongest staff we have ever hired. Thank you so much for all your help and hard work!!!”
