“I ordered from yougarden 12 sweetcorn plants x2 @ £7.99 each (24 plants in total).
The plants arrived last evening - 23/05/2024 - within the delivery date quoted.
This morning I opened the battered box to find two green plastic containers in which were 12 plants each. The top of the plants has to be "folded over" to fit the containers thus causing some of the stems to break and some leaves to be damaged. I tried to salvage as many of the plants & pot them up in readiness for acclimatising them to plant out in my allotment. Unfortunately some plants wre unsalvageable - at least 6. Others I have supported with sticks & ties to keep them upright hoping they will recover. I will not be surprised more die as a result of the damage.
I have taken photos on my mobile but have no way of sending these as proof of my claims.
Must say how disappointed I am as at some point the plants must have been very healthy. Yougarden ought to be aware of the compatibility between theheight of the plants and the packaging. Having to fold over plants to tall will certainly cause damage as I have experienced. The battered cardboard box is neither here nor there as the plants would/should have been protected within the plastic transport medium.
Not sure how delivery made but I have stated by Courier.
Unable to attach photos which are on my mobile and not on my laptop.

“Mum placed a order, unfortunately it was damaged on delivery.I sent a Email with photo attached got a swift reply saying no need to return and they would re send mums order free of charge.Very pleased with the prompt service that was provided.”
“Changed my mind. After phoning a second time got a really helpful person who has arranged a refund for the begonias and a replacement for the Busy Lizzie. The first assistant was poor and unhelpful but had I been treated like this in the first plsceI would not have posted my previous review. So sorry is due tomorrow o this company from me.”
“I left a poor review about this company when 16 lavender plants arrived instead of the 40 I had ordered, and the initial response to my contact was dismissive and seemingly disinterested. However a few weeks later, someone from You Garden contacted me and was helpful, efficient and my order has now been completed, with healthy looking plants, which were delivered on time, as agreed.
So, to set the record straight, a way to go, but perhaps there is hope!”
“I first started using YouGarden last year when I had a totally new garden to plant. I originally bought a pack of 3 dwarf buddleias and later on bought a tree. I also bought plants this year before coved 19. I was initially quite impressed by their service as I ordered the plants and they came within a reasonable length of time whereas other companies I have used before take the money for plants and then see to grow to order leading to waits measured in months
I first became somewhat dissatisfied when I tried to invoke their lifetime guarantee as one of my buddleias died. I did not notice that their phone number was a premium rate number until the call used all the credit on my phone! My understanding of the law is that all companies must now publish a standard rate phone number and as far as I can tell YouGarden is clearly in breach of this.
There is also a catch in the lifetime guarantee. If you ask to have a plant replaced under the lifetime guarantee you have to pay the £6.99 postage charge, and YouGarden have not been willing to include the replacement plant in with another order. I do not remember hw much the buddleias were originally but they were not much more than £6.99.
I have bought more plants from them recently than I would have done if it were not for covid 19 and they have all come, all be it later than I would have expected but yesterday I received an Apple tree with leaf curl. I find this really unacceptable as this could potentially infect every other tree in my garden, and it actually came in a delivery of four trees. I have sent them an email about the tree which is covered under their 30 day unconditional guarantee, but of course I can’t burn it until I get a response from them.
Long waits for deliveries and customer service only by phone seem to be par for the course under covid 19. I am currently trying to find out what has happened to a cosmos that I ordered from Sutton’s in March. My concern is how the customer service is provided under normal circumstances, the lack of a standard rate phone number, which I think is a matter for trading standards, an whether the guarantees are genuine. I may post again when I find out!”
