This is my first attempt at growing baby lettuces. There is a very helpful document on the Home Microgreens website detailing the exact steps for How to Grow Lettuces Indoors. My baby lettuces are at the microgreen stage now and are just starting to grow into lettuce leaves. I will edit my review in a couple of weeks when the lettuces have had a chance to grow a bit more.
Edited to add:
I planted the Parris Island lettuce seed a little over 2 weeks ago. It is the tray on the left. As you can see, I planted way too many seeds. I did use the 4 grams for a 10x10 tray but as Todd says, that is too much. So, my next tray (in the middle) was the Australe planted 4 days later. I tried to use fewer seeds but it was still too much, although the Australe lettuces are growing better than the Parris Island. And, the tray on the right is another Parris Island planted 5 days ago, and as you can see, it looks to be just about right. For this tray, I took a pinch of seeds between my thumb and forefinger and carefully spread them over the soil. I did this about 3 times. I think this is going to be a success. So, I highly recommend following Todd's lettuce growing instructions about using much fewer seeds for baby lettuces than for microgreens.
