I had a Boss GT-100 used in conjunction with a programmed rack unit to get the Hank Marvin delays as part of my stage act. Floor space was getting untidy and there were so many cables in use.
I therefore upgraded to the GX-100, which not only sounds amazing with its preamp and effect selection, with the multiple delay options I can easily replicate the Hank delays to sound like his original recordings. Add to this the equivalent VOX preamp and wow! I have all my settings for each Shadows song within one unit. No more send/return cables or external rack unit.
In addition to this, I can program different profiles for my different guitars. My Gretsch has a lower output than my Strat, but I can compensated for this easily. The touchscreen makes programming so much easier and quicker, especially on-the-fly!
There are so many internal and external control options too, should you need them, and the LED switches make easy reference on a dark stage.
I also midi-link (hardwire) to my iPad via my digital PA mixer so that the GX-100 patches follow my backing track selections and control parameters.
In conclusion, I find the GX-100 so much easier to use and program, and with a superb Boss effects selection on-tap, I have everything I need from a guitar effects processor.
