Making your own cables may be fun but it can be very expensive due to the high cost of good quality precision terminating tools (PTT, aka crimp tools). Cheap PTTs will not provide the precision nor the repeatability necessary for a reliable connection. Not to mention that my tired old eyes are not up to working with these tiny JST SH connectors.
