This purchase was our 9th Corral Shelter Livestock Shade (12x12') kit on our homestead. By far, this is the most useful and economical way to store firewood. A livestock shade as a firewood cover? Absolutely. They are easy to construct and are long lived. To utilize as a firewood cover, we raise the shelter on cinder blocks, then anchor down the frame to the ground and pallets inside the structure (you can't underdo the anchors...nobody likes to find their shelter in the next county over after a storm because they cheaped out on the anchors). We string 3 of them together in a row (overlapping the covers) to get long runs of uninterrupted cover for wood storage. With wood towers on the end to block the intrusion of snow, wind, and rain (and some have the optional extra end covers, like our kindling shelter), our wood is better protected than practically everyone else storing wood. We've found no better practical solution for firewood storage. With proper care (wash yearly with a mild soap and water; keep out of the sun as much as possible; repair if you get a hole to maintain the rest of the cover's integrity), the covers last even longer than what ShelterLogic quotes. We've even started covering our oldest shelters (8 years old) with their newer double thick shelter covers (the only reason we've had to change a cover out so far is from a terrible storm that drove huge branches through the shelter). Different color cover, but extremely durable. May be a very practical solution for livestock, but the very best for firewood storage for us!
