Looking to buy a running vest for my first trail marathon, I researched the market extensively and tried out my friend's Salomon adv skin 5 (the one that seems to come up in all the searches) to see how it felt. Although comfortable, the Salomon seemed flimsy for the price and didn't have many storage options. After watching the videos (including Run4Adventure) and reading all the positive reviews on the Curbar 5L I placed an order.
It had its first outing on a 15 miler up to Back Tor and along Derwent Edge at the weekend.. home turf for the Harrier Brand :) It really didn't disappoint!! Extremely comfortable with lots of storage options (took gels, 2 flasks, airpods, 5 gels, car key) and the harrier hydration flasks worked a treat, once I got the knack of using them. My biggest concern was overheating in the pack (there is a lot more to it than the Salomon) but I needn't have worried, I kept cool throughout my run. I am so happy I chose to support Harrier over the larger well known brands. For me personally the Curbar 5L is a far superior vest and I'm confident it will see me through many trail marathons.
