I was very pleased with the design and construction of the awning I bought. The only issue I had to consider was that I was mounting a triple wide unit about 10 feet long so even though the unit is light I knew I would need help because I only learned after receiving and reading the instructions that I had to pre-assemble the awing on the ground and install in one piece. I mounted mine to vinyl siding on a wood frame house which provided two challenges. The vertical bars were flush so I had to make a stand-off bar to get past the vinyl ridges and I had to hit studs on 16 inch spacings to provide proper support, the bar also helped with this. I am not sure the average homeowner could handle this. Possibly you could consider a vinyl installation kit.
