Wingspan – A Beautifully Relaxing Strategy Game (9/10)
Wingspan is an absolute gem of a board game that strikes the perfect balance between strategy, relaxation, and stunning design. The game’s theme—building a wildlife preserve and attracting birds—feels unique and refreshing, with gorgeous artwork and high-quality components that make every session a joy.
One of the biggest highlights is how laid-back and non-confrontational it is. My wife, who usually prefers games without direct conflict, absolutely loves how you can focus on building your own bird sanctuary without having to worry about aggressive competition. There’s no take-that mechanics or player elimination—just a satisfying engine-building experience where each turn feels rewarding.
The gameplay is smooth and engaging, with just the right amount of depth to keep things interesting without becoming overwhelming. Whether you’re a seasoned board gamer or just looking for something relaxing to enjoy with family, Wingspan is a fantastic choice. The solo mode is also excellent, making it a great option for quieter gaming sessions.
If I had to nitpick, the game can sometimes feel a little dependent on luck with card draws, but the sheer variety of strategies available keeps it fresh. Overall, it’s a must-have for anyone who enjoys thoughtful, low-stress board games with a beautiful theme.
Would highly recommend—9/10!
