“Gels are very tricky--some work great but leave flakes, some are too crunchy, some are too weak, etc---I often feel like Goldilocks in my gel search! I keep my expectations low with gels now so I tried a few techniques with this 4U curl definer, using it on my son's too long 3C/4A curly hair that needed a refresher. First, I spritzed his hair and it after the gel was applied. It was soft but frizzy--not great. I realized I had used the wrong brush, so I tried it again with a clumping brush--more definition but still not what I was looking for. Then I spritzed, added gel and twisted the curl around my finger and let go---this gave the best result! The curls dried soft and defined without any flaking! It smells great, too. My only gripe is the bottle top...it's hard to tell if it is closed or open and I accidently left it open and leaked out! Otherwise, so far, so good. I can't wait to try it after I remove my braids.”
“I have been using this Curl Defining Gel by 4U for a month now for my hair and my daughters hair. We both have curly hair but different patterns and texture, my daughter has fine 3b and I have 2c to 3a color treated and damaged hair. The porous nice a thick but doesn’t make hair feel weighed down. I known it says to spread it with a wide tooth comb but for my liking I would use either my hands or brush especially for my daughter because even though she has fine hair it dense. It did leave some hard crunchy hair pieces but when I used my oils it was good. The smell is nice not too harsh.”

“This is a really good gel that has a light hold and smells so good. Although the lid is different, in that it twists to open, it’s sort of inconvenient because get ends up on the counter if you set it up the way it’s supposed to while doing your hair. Overall, I enjoy the actual product and it does well on my 3c hair. I get minimal frizz and no white flakes once it’s dries.”
