Super-commuter, meets touring, meets gravel bike - the Day One is the Genesis triple threat!Take the heart of our CDA, add a dash of hub-geared practicality and finish it with clearance for 42mm tyres and this is what you get. Genesis reckon it's the best of all-worlds, giving you our most versatile platform with a healthy dose of dependability. Of course, there is no need to introduce their best-selling CDA frameset, which features a hybrid double-butted alloy tubing, delivering high levels of stiffness in certain areas and compliance in others.Adorned with a myriad of mounts for 'guards, racks, bottles, framebags and Anything cages, this bike can go as far as your legs can carry you and your kit. The hub-gear delivers reliability and range, which is great news whether you're commuting in all weathers, or on your way to a bothy in the Hebrides.Finished with 37mm tyres and in a glorious forest green colourway, this is an enduring bike and one worthy of the Day One moniker. Please Note: Some of these bikes are being shipped with tyres that differ from the stock imagery. Your Day One may arrive with a slicker more commuter focused tyre.Key Features:Lightweight Alloy FramesetPromax DSK-300 Road Disc Brakes42mm Tyre Clearance on a 700c Wheel

Pros - light for a steel framed bike - mostly good quality components - low maintenance hub gears - comfortable contact points and geometry Cons - I don't like the decals on the frame - it's difficult to see on the photos but there are little painted horizontal lines which are slightly raised. They feel unnecessary and distract from the simple aesthetic - I would prefer the frame to be a single colour. - promax brake calipers - they stop well enough but they do rub on the rotors. I'll probably replace them at some point. I bought this bike as a commuter to replace a 2009 model Genesis Day One. I really like the hub gears for low maintenance and I like the comfort of the steel frame. There are definitely some improvements from my old day one, in particular the bar-end shifter is much better than the one from 2009 and the bike is considerably lighter. The geometry feels pretty good and "urban" in the sense that it is comfortable and easy to hop on and off.
