“Bike handles very nicely with an upward seating position. The shimano gear and hydraulic brake system work well with crisp shifting and confident braking. Frame angles are very comfortable and place rider in a good position. The shimano steps electric motor works well when the rider is pedaling at around 80 to 90 cadence, but if you select harder gears to drop your cadence the motor does suffer somewhat, basically higher cadence and the motor works very well. It can get a bit surgy at times when changing gears around hills. NOTE: Not related to the bike but the 25klm per hour speed restriction is way to slow as a couple of pedals and you have hit the limit. The rear pannier rack and mudguards do their job. Merida should invest in a model with no front suspension or provide a better quality suspension fork as the one supplied is not great.”
