“This is my second, the original still going strong after around 5 years with the only change being one nut now brass. Can fit two full sized mountain bikes with 720/740 bars side-by-side on Subaru Outback, though you need to be tall to lift up to SUV roof height. Takes seconds to load. Nice that these now come with the locks (used to be optional extra, still sold separately if you want to get key-alike more than one pair)”
“Bought to supplement 10 year old Thule ProRide.
Plus
* Installation and removal from roof bars without messing with tee slots and rubber strips.
* Wheel clamp system is agnostic of "fragile" frames, awkward frame shapes, external brake and gear tubing. (Main reason for buying.)
Negative
* Perhaps a not as quite easy to load bike (compared to ProRide). (The roof height of my car isn't helping anyone.)
* SKS lock storage seems insecure (but hasn't come loose) and the cable is only a deterrent from casual theft. (The Thule system probably wouldn't stand up to much more attention.)
* Time will tell if the higher percentage of plastic in the mounting parts will hold up as well as the steel T-slot parts in my Thule.”
“Pros
* Add / remove from roof bars without hassle of T-slots and slot rubbers. But possibly less secure than the metal fasteners.
* Zero risk to frame (obviously) and any external cabling on the down tube.
* Zero compatibility with issues with frame shape (obviously). Can be an issue with ProRide.
* Bike seems more stable than in my Thule ProRide 591.
Different kind of awkward getting bike mounted on taller vehicle compared to Thule ProRide.
Cons
* Plastic clamps seem less robust than the T-slot clamps of Thule ProRide.
* Cable lock retainer barely holds the lock barrel when not in use. The cable itself is only useful as a deterrent, but probably in-line with the strength of the lock barrels in either system.
* Be careful to adjust the wheel yoke properly for correct clamping.”
“Fantastic product. Spent quite a bit of time researching and comparing rooftop bike racks. If you want one that can pretty much fit any roof and any bike (including delicate carbon frames) then get this one. Easy to use and reasonable value for money. Also quick to switch between cars if you need to. Very happy. 99 Bikes were great too. Very happy shopping there.”
