“Does what it should fairly well.
However it does tend to pick up 'ghost vehicles'. That is, it will beep and show a vehicle from 200m or so out, but there isn't any car approaching. Other than that, it does detect all vehicles accurately.”
“Very good device- underwhelming app.
I have been using a Garmin Varia radar and it is excellent. It has changed to way I ride and I feel much safer knowing when a car is approaching. I wanted to buy another Garmin but the price had increased by 90%!!! I bought mine for $180 and the price had gone to $340 which I interpreted as Garmin price gouging. I bought the Magene instead as it was less than $200. It works very well, and as good as my Garmin Varia. The included mount is good and fits my round and D shaped seatposts. Battery life is excellent. The only issue is the app to adjust the settings and update the firmware. It is clunky and failed to update to the latest firmware.
Overall I am very happy with this device and I hope it sells very well to let Garmin know they have competition that charge are much more reasonably priced. Shame on you Garmin!”
“Fully compatible with my Garmin Edge bike computer and functions exactly as the Garmin Varia (non-camera) model but at a more reasonable price point. A key point of difference is the unit also increases light intensity has vehicles approach. Very happy with the Magene.”
“Works pretty well though the firmware won’t update properly (keeps failing) but it works fine on the factory version. It also doesn’t sit neatly on a d-shaped seatpost - it keeps sliding around the sides, though it can be taped in place. The mount is designed for circular or diamond shaped posts.
It works well with my Wahoo Bolt though it did miss a car completely on my first ride which is a bit of a worry.”
