“I was tossing up over purchasing the Tickr gen 2, Tickr X, Garmin HRM-Dual and the Garmin HRM Pro. I can definitely say I made the right decision! Seeing as I ride with a Wahoo Bolt, I was leaning to wards the Tickr but was curious as to what separated the Garmin for Wahooo’s HRM. Peter at Maribyrnong 99 Bikes was very helpful and I’m greatful for his clear and honest opinion on what device would best suit me. The concise startup instructions and user manual help me seamlessly connect my Tickr to the Bolt, Wahoo App and Elemnt App. I compared the metrics against some data from a Fitbit and was pleasantly surprised with the metrics and information it was able to provide me with accuracy. It’s super easy to connect to devices and there is no need to fuss with buttons since there are none! So far, it’s been 100% sweat resistance and is not showing any signs of wear. “It does the basic job very well: i.e. recording my heart rate during my rides. It also seems to work quite well when using an app on my phone to record HRV (heart rate variation) daily, and it gives me suggested recovery times after each ride. However, it doesn't show how well I've recovered and am performing in the early stages of each ride, as previous HR monitors have done (e.g. a Garmin HR monitor that I used for several years which told me, after 15 -20 mins of riding, if performance was baseline, fair, or good). With that qualification as a slight shortcoming, I've found the unit to perform well.”
“Excellent heart rate monitor. Connects up fast and reliably. I like the way the band clips into the monitor unit.
I picked it up at the Blakehurst store. The person who served me wasn't welcoming and didn't really exhibit behaviours consistent with 'The world's most approachable bike shop', but the service was passable. It's not going to be a bike shop I seek out in the future based on that and prior instore experiences.”
