This was a fantastic tour, lead really well and the overland itinerary was superb to make the most of the time available. There were no 'wasted days' and time was used efficiently. Yes, this tour comes in at a little more than others but for that you get 3 staff! Guide, driver and a chef! Ben cooked up amazing African and western dishes. Having done a trip with another company Capetown to J'Burg where yes it was cheaper that was because we had to group cook. The lottery you get with this is the standard of food and overall hygiene depends on your group and those cooking. The budget is perhaps not managed as effectively as a chef would and what it actually means time wise is every 2 or 3 nights you must a) shop (minimum an hour) then b) on arrival you must swiftly put up your tent to start cooking. No chance to relax - take a shower - go for a wonder or nap. You also then have to consider peoples annoying food likes and dislikes. However... have a chef and this is all taken care of. Group dynamics... Every trip is a lottery. Truck - Think they are going to upgrade. No charging points on mine. Annoying as everyone needs power nowadays and this is a really simple fix with a leisure battery. Seats were comfy enough. No AC - big windows to open. Liked the fact every day you moved seats clockwise. This stopped best seat hogging, got to chat to different people and you could get away from the annoying ones. Highlight for me Zimbabwe. Bring USDollar. Must be new notes! Vic Falls will wipe you out, there are so many highlights but top would be to white water the Zambezi. approx 140USD - great fun. Walking with Rhino tour - incredible. Can go to devils pool 120USD. Vic Falls is WAY more expensive than you can imagine! Tourist prices!!!! Would absolutely recommend ATC and when i'm back in Africa I will use again.
