I own the “Short Pump “ gloves and the “Release” gloves. I use the full finger Release on my Left hand for handling braid line upon retrieve/fight and the open finger tip Short Pump on my right hand for the reel and knot tying. My dermatologist urged gloves — for a well-spent ypouth around the water.
The Sun Glove open palm was fine and very light on my right (reel) hand on a recent Yellowtail trip. I think it fine for coastal and smaller fish.
Going for some medium tuna in 2 weeks — I will see then whether the open palm works for bigger / tougher - longer fighting fish. Will have Short Pump as back-up.
