4.9 Rating 596 Reviews
Alabaster is doing something amazing with these simplistically beautiful books of the Bible! I was lucky enough to receive a copy of the book of Proverbs as a part of the launch program and these books never cease to amaze me! Full of beautiful imagery and a great way to read a few chapters while out at coffee or lounging around at home. I keep these books out on our coffee table and always recieve so many compliments and questions about them! Very pleased with this new addition and can’t wait to see what Alabaster continues to do

Alabaster Company does it again with the Book of Proverbs. Like its predecessors, Alabaster’s Proverbs is just as visually stunning to look at and to read through. The layout of the book is modern, minimal, and clean, which very well follows suit with the Alabaster Company branding. Picking up Proverbs is akin to picking up an aesthetically pleasing and high end magazine. The photos within are artistic and strategically placed. At times, they’re placed as welcomed breaks between passages, such as a two page spread of a picture or pictures. These pauses allow me to take a breathe and rest for a second. Other times, the pictures are placed in such a way as to invite the reader to gaze longer, to find meaning and interpreting and relating to the passage on the side or on the previous or next page. The layouts vary from double to single columns to pages with pictures and verses to pages with only pictures. While such a description may thrill a lot of people, especially those who love visuals, it might deter some Bible traditionalists who think the Bible should be displayed as is, without art. Each chapter is labelled prominently at the top of the starting page. Each section heading is bolded. Verse numbers are small and Alabaster seem to have chosen to display the verses as blocks, which means there are no paragraphs or stanzas. It helps it feel both light and continuous. Proverbs, like most of the books in Alabaster Company, is a paperback. The cover feels and looks matted and the pages feels and looks non-glossy. My main critique is that because of use, a small portion of the top cover got slightly bent. But that’s also expected of magazines I read with a similar paperback and feel. I somewhat wished there was a hardcover for me to purchase. What I love about Alabaster’s Bible books is they’re versatile. They can be placed in a shelf or they can be placed on a coffee table. Either way, they’re bound to get noticed and to get people talking. I also love the fact that I can gift a book to a friend who might feel intimidated picking up a traditional looking Bible, but would pick up a Bible book that looks inviting. As a Christian who loves art, photography, and visuals, I’m grateful for Alabaster’s commitment to producing beautiful products. They are a welcomed reminder that the as image bearers of the Creator God, we create because our God is creative. And these books truly testify to this pure thing of creating beautiful things that glorify God. **Full disclosure, Alabster Company provided Proverbs for me to review as part of Alabaster’s Influencer Program. And while I was not required to give a positive review, I liked the book so much, I decided to complete my Alabaster set by purchasing all 4 Gospel set and the Book of Psalms. I already had the Book of Romans.**

I was invited to be part of the launch team, and jumped on the opportunity. We purchased the gospels last year and Alabaster does a beautiful job of bringing to life scripture through stunning imagery. Love their mission and excited to add another book to our collection.
