The Book of Jeremiah Hardcover / New Living Translation (NLT) Reviews

5 Rating 71 Reviews
I received my copy of the book of Jeremiah complimentary through Alabaster's Influencer Program. I love how the beautiful imagery pulls you deeper into the meaning of the text and gives you the time to stop and focus on the meaning on each page. This is such a great way to introduce the scripture to people and it’s a wonderful way to break down each book of the Bible in a more comprehensive way!

I am so happy I found Alabaster Co. In a world when everything is designed to attract our attention, I love the nuanced aesthetics that help the visual learner stay engaged with God's word. In all honesty, Jeremiah reads as a thick and heavy anthology of God's anger towards the broken covenant with Israel. Anguish, despair, and consequences of the Israelites' embracing other gods and even flirting with child sacrifices hit hard. However, the way this book of the Bible is printed, I was able to compartmentalize God's sovereign and just anger for His people. Of course, around chapters 30 through 33, Jeremiah scribes a promise for hope and healing for God's people; further, we see God's character of justice AND a path to redemption. The photography is so complimentary to the adjacent passages and there is no distortion of the Word or commentary that takes away from the primary Biblical passage. I have the book of Proverbs already and my 91 year old grandmother was impressed with the quality and simplicity of these books of the Bible. If she says it's great, then it's great :)

Jeremiah was a prophet from southern Judah who warned about their destruction should Israel continue their idolatrous ways and break their covenant with God. Sadly, his words came to pass as he and God’s people were exiled to Babylon. The 36th chapter of Jeremiah describes how this book reads like an anthology—it’s a collection. The earlier chapters are a collection of 20 years worth of Jeremiah’s sermons, poems, etc before the exile. Chapters 26-45 is about Jeremiah’s rejection and its final chapters describe the destruction of Jerusalem. Chapters 46-51 are about God’s judgment, but also hope for the nations. Some of the themes of Jeremiah include corruption, social injustices, judgement, hope, and grace. And this is why the photographic artwork accompanied in Alabaster’s Jeremiah perfect fits this theme—from pictures of deserts and other dry landscapes to leafless trees to somber and earthly colors. They all work together in presenting the right mood to reflect on the concept of exile. Alabaster did another great job thinking through every detail, continuing its tradition of styles from previous books. My copy of the book was complimentary through Alabaster's Influencer Program.
