we will see, like i said it arrived damaged . being a contractor i have had little to no problem putting together . the instructions on the assembly are very poor. This unit is not for the "do it your self person".

I was planning to make a sliding gate drive out of an old reversible drill and several bicycle chains until I found this operator. The price is hard to beat; I guess i would pay the same for parts for my dyi project. It's a dedicated kit, with options for expansion and numerous pieces of hardware intended to fit miscellaneous gates that I might have. Much better than anything i would build myself from a scratch. The gate needs to be stiff enough to take the chain tension, in my case 2" square pipe was enough. Of course, with accordance to Murphys laws, the fittings didn't fit my gate, because of the intervening midstile, but several cantilevered pipes cut and welded together allowed for installation and proper positioning of the chain and magnets on my gate. I poured the concrete foundation (2 bags 80lbs) with embedded bolts and placed metal conduits to the additional circuit breaker. The drive base was welded in place to avoid theft. The drive operated once energized; there

Once set up it works fine but limited setup instructions and the base is rusting already (it's been a week, no rain either)

In the reviews I read, they stated that there were no instructions with the product; I found more than sufficient information to complete the installation online and with the product. Some of the statements about the base unit rusting made me modify the installation by not only painting the base with Rust-Oleum but mounting it on angle iron and then onto cement. This allowed me to be able to move the base as close to the fence as needed. I also modified the magnet bracket because I have a chain link fence not square metal tubing. The big secret is ensuring your fence rolls freely. I'm extremely happy with the product and especialy the price.

Perfect for the price does exactly what I wanted it to do, easy installation, smooth operation and great distance on the remote, highly recommend for homeowners and could work great for small commercial application also

Great gate opener. Works well. It has parts to fit a couple of different types of gates. I have a chain link gate and I had to make a couple of modifications to make it work. I had to ad a spacer between the chain links and the magnet mounting bracket to get the magnet close enough to the controller to make it stop the gate. I also had to extend the rear chain mounting bracket to get it far enough back to clear the opener when closed all of the way. These modifications were not the fault of the gate opener or the manufacturer. All in all I am very happy with the opener and the price.

The motor works just fine. The remote control has 4 buttons but you can only use the remote for one gate. You cannot use it for your garage door operator. Home link systems found in automobiles cannot work with this unit either, so you are stuck with having to have a key chain remote rattling around in your car. I will have to install another receiver in parallel with this unit so I can have my automobile's Home link system work with it. Also, the 12vdc minature battery that is in the transmitter is not available at Radio Shack, CVS, or Walgreens. I haven't tried Walmart yet, but I doubt if they would have this hard to get 27A battery. You can get it from Amazon, but I don't know about it's shelf life.Nope. Big shortcomings on the radio control. I guess for the price, I can afford to get a better remote & pay for installation of it. Getting response from the mfg is very short & curt, like a yes or no answer when queried about the remote control problems.
