“Having laid this floor in my living room a few years before, I wanted to continue with the same boards through the hallway and in to the kitchen and downstairs toilet. Although several years had passed, I found the new supply to match perfectly with the 'old', and the various grain patterns were the same so the now continuous flooring throughout the ground floor looks as if it was all put down at the same time. These boards are easily connected, so with the right tools and good preparation the whole transformation can be made reasonably quickly, although it's definitely worth taking the time to distribute the various grain patterns across the floor and stagger the board-end joins nicely. The bevelled edges of these boards really gives the floor a classy feel. Although the pattern and colour looks amazing on its own I believe the bevelling really makes it 'pop'. Other products that butt up perfectly flush just don't compare, in my opinion, and if there's the slightest variation in thickness or any movement through moisture ingress of any kind, the 'flat' floors can end up with 'edges' and sometimes gaps (if the connecting mechanism isn't very good) in the floor space. With the bevels and the quality of this product; not going to happen. In terms of moisture, I've used a 3mm foil backed underlay throughout on a concrete base and had no issues from below. From above, there have been a few spillages (coffee, dog water bowl accidents, puppy house training, Christmas drinks...) but as yet no effects at all. The previously laid floor is in a south facing living room with a conservatory; there's a lot of light, and in the summer a lot of heat. There has been absolutely no fade whatsoever in the colour and no distortion at all; it all looks as good as new even with two dogs and my regular forgetting to take shoes off after a rummage in the garden. The floor cleans very easily and we've had quite a few "Oh, nice floor" remarks from visitors. If you happen to have to pay a bit more for this product, I'd say it's worth it.
