“I have 2 furbabies that were RX’d 100 mg Gabapentin. The first one is a 10 year old Cocker Spaniel rescued from a puppy mill. He was given it at age 2-3 for anxiety. While it did work to calm him (by sedation) it also caused trembling and shaking (like uncontrollable shivers) so I discontinued it and instead we went the all natural route. That being said. He is a hyper dog meaning his whole nervous system is on high alert and your dog may not have the same side effects.
The second dog is a now 16 year old Cocker Spaniel/ Pekinese mix who started the Gabapentin at age 14 for pain in his back legs due to spine aging. It helps him be more comfortable at night (sedation) and if he is having a hard time getting around I give him an additional one in the morning. It is by no means a miracle drug but it takes the edge off so he can move around and sleep comfortably enough.”
“My 13 year old Toller takes this for her arthritis pain and it has done wonders for her. She went from not being able to stand up without help to wanting to play. She does sleep more but it has given her a quality of life back and that is worth every penny.”
“2 of my older huskies take this for pain and it works wonderfully. It does make them a little more sleepy than usual, but it eases their pain so I definitely recommend!”
“My 5 yr old male kitty has Idiopathic cystitis which is inflamed bladder tissue so it's painful for him to urinate. this helps with the pain. I use it along with the Prazosine 1mg. Very tiny doses mixed in with a syringe of water. My experience is one does not work without the other for his issue.”
“My Great Dane has spinal degeneration and experiences stiffness and pain on occasion. This drug really helps him achieve the quality he deserves as a 10 year old giant breed”
