I’m shy of 5’10, about 152 lbs, slim hips, so my proportions fell between M and L. I ordered L Tall based on my waist, and they fit fine. My waist is comfortable, and the legs flow nicely down my legs. They’re not quite fleece, yet the fabric is thick and soft enough that they are warm in colder weather.
