“Screw-on regulator and screw-on cylinder valve are hard to tighten, therefore leading to gas leaks. I tried the new regulator on 2 different cylinders, it still leaks during the soapy water check.
The connection has to be tightened with heavy spanner and/or by applying plastic tape on the tread. If the regulator is to be detached, the Open-Close valve of the cylinder is also prone to leaking gas if it is not tightened enough.
Whether with the regulator on or after the regulator is detached, small amount of gas leakage because of loose fitting will not be noticeable. This is a safety issue by design.”

When connecting a POL valve regulator to a propane cylinder, you should always turn the valve handwheel on the cylinder off by turning it clockwise to stop gas from leaking from the cylinder when attaching or removing the regulator.
