“The pond is a good size but the shape was very difficult to dig out well. I had to dig and backfill, redid and re-back fill two get the excavated hole to fit the pond well, and when it did it wasn’t level. Part of the problem in levelling the pond is that the bottom is actually convex (the centre bulges up). I did my best and filled it with water but found that the water level was much higher on the long ends than at the middle. So I had to empty the pond, redig and refill. In the process of shifting the pond around in the hole, the few plant shelfs have deformed, as has the lip along some edges. So it is very difficult to stabilise pants on the shelves and I had to put rocks on the lips to cover the deformities. I don’t think this shaped pond is easy to work with. A geometric shape would have been easier.”
