“The product came in quickly. They were wrapped and packaged well. After opening I found all the screws and bolts. The skid went together fairly easily I did the install in 5 hours. I did all the work on the ground on my back. There are a few items that could have helped with the install. You must check and verify you have the right equipment before you install it. The instructions provided come with a list but it does not match certain models. It appears to be a generic list. The instructions would benefit from adding more photos and the list of parts have a photo next to it. The skids are lightweight but are strong. They are a great value for the price. I gave 4 stars because of the instructions.”
“The prior reviews cover almost everything I encountered. Artec sends you the wrong parts list but youre expected to check to make sure youve received everything...seems they can drum one up in a few hours but I managed. I will say that you DEFINITELY need ratchet straps Not only to suspend the tank but also to assist in lining up the bolts to the factory nutsframe. Itd be an understatement to say that the tolerances of the Artec skids are tighter than a gnats ass...so buyer beware. I actually had to settle for the factory bolt for one skid because it was longer and allowed some tolerance. Customer service is second to none...I had to request another flag nut because the passenger side nut that welded inside the frame broke off. Very happy with the look and durability. Heed Artecs warning and definitely keep everything loose until all bolts are installed...”
“Great quality of material and hardware. The instructions for the 2.0L engine differ a bit from the 3.6L version of the instructions that came in the package and are available on the videos but its actually a much simpler install. On the 2.0L there is no exhaust crossover and brackets to deal with and the engine skid bolts to existing engine mount bolts simply with 2 nuts.Overall the only part that took some time was removing the factory fuel tank strap and fitting all the brackets for the fuel tank.Everything lined up well only had to use the dremel tools to align one of the holes.I have since tested the skids including being high centered - skids held up well with only minor rash marks.I dont think there is a better skid for the JLU on the market.P.S. I had an opportunity to use their customer service for both a question and to ask for an extra flag nut to replace a popped frame capture nut - their customer service was amazingly responsive - both by phone and email.Great company to deal with. Oh and shipping was amazingly fast.”
“Ordered during September 2020 and arrived within week or so. Shipping seemed fast. Vehicle 2021 JLUR 2.0TQuality - Upon inspection the aluminum skid plates appeared high quality with no defects. Welds looks solid like stacked dimes.Instructions - I used the Artec video has the primary guide for installation. The on line video and provided instructions are for the V6. Understanding the instructions should be about the same there are a few key differences being mostly with the oil pan-transmission skid assembly. With the 2.0 the oil-pan transmission skid is a pretty complete set up but the mounting around the engine was a guessing game. After spending some time figuring out which hardware I actually needed I was left with extra nuts bolts and a few brackets that were for the V6. I was not aware my hardware pack would contained all the nuts and bolts for both the V6 and 2.0 versions even though the oil pan transmission skid was for the 2.0 and not the V6.Installation - The only issues I had was with the transfer case skid and figuring out the oil pan transmission skid assembly to the frame. For the T-case skid I had about bolt 4 holes that would not line up. In order to get the T-case skid to fit I had to drill out two holes to make them slightly larger then cut one to make it U shaped to allow for fitment. I also omitted one bolt hole as it didnt seem necessary and I was annoyed. Installing was not difficult however it could have been clearer for the average Joe rolling around on his garage floor. The difficulty is with was the gas tank skid. The metal strap that holds the fuel tank took time to take off. Using ratchet straps wasnt that challenging. With a little pushing and pulling everything eventually lined up. All said and done I did it by myself in about 4 hrs. Summary - The undercharge looks great with it being nice and smooth all the way back. Aluminum versus steel could be augured either way but for my build and wanting to stay light this was the best product for me. I feel two different instructions would be the way to go for this product to make it much clearer for the consumer. I am very happy with the product and its overall fitment. I didnt do a lot of research before buying this kit but knew Artec has a great reputation. Overall I would recommended this product.”
“I ordered this belly pan during the Artec end of the year sale. Due to the large number of sales it took a couple weeks to arrive. The skid plates are high quality with professional welds. The only issues I had was with the instructions and hardware pack. The instructions and video on the site was for the V6. I have the 2.0 turned 4. While most of the instructions were the same there were a few key differences. An addendum was available on the site for the 2.0 version. Unfortunately it was a little incomplete. The hardware pack appeared to contain all the nuts and bolts for both the V6 and 2.0 versions. I have a 2020 JLU Rubicon. This model does not have the 48 volt battery under the chassis like earlier JLs. After spending some time figuring out which hardware I actually needed I was left with a large number on nuts bolts a few brackets and a battery skid that I would not be using. Installing the various skid plates was not difficult was pretty intuitive and could almost be done without instructions. The oil pan skid mounting brackets were also different from the instructions but were not difficult to sort out. The only part I had difficulty with was the gas tank skid. Using ratchet straps as instructed was a challenge but did the job. The fitment of a couple bolts was slightly off. I had to loosen push pull and eventually undo some to get it lined up. Once that was done it was just a matter of snugging you all the bolts. The skid pans all line up well and the bottom is very smooth with the flat head bolts. I have driven on the streets and also a couple hour off road trip. Everything stayed snug and nothing interfered with any other undercarriage parts. The light weight of the aluminum panels vs the heavier steel version made thus a simple one man job. All done in my garage with basic tools and not even a need to jack up the Jeep. Overall this is a high quality kit that fits well looks great and appears that it will work as expected. Updated instructions and video for the 2.0 would make installation much easier. If you can perform an oil change you can install this kit. I am very happy with the product and its fitment. I have no doubt that it will take a pounding and last for a very long time. I did my research before buying this kit and it is the best looking best designed and offers the most coverage kit I have seen. I would definitely recommended this to anyone looking for quality undercarriage protection.”
