“looks really clean Thoughts below to help out new installers. installation video. Watch it a lot. I had to watch it on my phone and they didnt make it easy to see what is going on when using a small screen. The metal plate goes in direct contact with a painted surface which Im not a fan of. It needs some sort of buffer between the two. I have a bunch of electrical tape and might line it with that. I tested the camera when I was done and got a blue screen. To fix it I just had to power off the Jeep and leave it there for about 10 minutes. Then it started working again. Thank god. I was thinking that I would go back and forth with the spare tire. Like when I was planning an of road trip or something. Was a little more time consuming that I thought but now that I know what Im doing maybe it will go quicker. Definitely need a table or something during the process. Removing it becomes a little awkward to hold it while trying to remove the camera...”
“Directions would have made the order of parts to install much ezer . Took to long to install I thought is was expensive compared to other product out there”
“A couple of issues I had on the install. 1 Camera does not mount with middle screw facing up it faces down. 2 The internal bracket and camera mount shell was the hardest part of this installation. With the camera sandwiched in between the mounting holes did not line up correctly. It took four hands and about an hour to manipulate this into a position where the 14 bolts could be installed. 3 I installed and wired up the LEDs unfortunately though the license plate would not bolt on without using tin snips to cut out slots so that the LEDs would not be covered up by the license plate (very disappointed in this). I do like the look of the product an updated video install needs to be done and someone at Artech needs to look at the Camera mount shellinternal bracket install with the backup camera installed with middle screw facing DOWN not up.”
“Well made with aluminum to save weight Needs another 12 of space for camera wiring inside. Was a very difficult fit...get ready to push and shove to align the small bolt holes. Otherwise a nice piece I would buy again.”
“This is a great product. I recently purchased a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL. This was the first year for th JL model. I was looking for a JL Spare Tire Delete Kit. My main concern was the fact that I have a back up camera that was in the center of the spare tire and the brake light is attached to the spare tire holder. No problem. This product was made to accommodate both of these above features. The Artec Industries website has a video that I watched several times prior to buying. I actually called the company after watching the videos on. The phone was answered by a very knowledgeable gentleman who knew about the product and answered my questions quickly. This service and his knowledge definitely supported my decision to purchase this product. The only negative thing was I did not receive instillation instruction with the product. I had someone install this for me as I am not mechanically inclined. The installer simply watched the video and successfully installed the product. My installer noticed that there were 4 holes on the face of the bracket. The base is black and the inside of the 4 holes was silver. I told him I thought I would get som black paint and touch up the silver. He had a better idea. He had some rubber plugs that fit in the holes. I was very happy about that not only did it make the plate look better but it looks like the plugs were sent by the factory. Maybe thats something the manufacturer should consider. It took about an hour to install. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to remove their spare tire and enhance the look of their Jeep.”
“A really great product. Best Ive seen out there. This has the license plate led light and you reuse the factory 3rd brake light. Installation was a bit confusing at first because no instructions came with it. I found a video that showed how to wire it on youtube.”
