“The trip was not what I expected: I thought we would do a lot more cycling than we did, but we seemed to spend alot of time on a bus or boat. This was my first trip to Asia, and it was a truly amazing, unfogettable experience. I am so glad I went. The locals were very friendly and, with one exception, the hotels were excellent. I am looking forward to my next trip!”
“The Vietnam portion of the trip was dangerous with such heavy bikes. I witnessed 3 people fall because of the weight of the bikes. Also, we had a great guide but on the second day he didn't provide adequate water breaks and some of us became ill with dehydration. It was hot!!! Finally, their was no provision foe electrolyte beverages which were needed in the heat. Cambodia was different. Great bikes and very good guidance with breaks and adequate snacks. Overall a wonderful experience!”
“Friendly and knowledgeable guides; efficient back-up van and minibus; lovely hotels; particularly enjoyed the cycling off main roads, which was most of the time. E-bikes worked a dream.”
“Excellent guides, top class support, luxury hotels, a great way to visit Vietnam and Cambodia. We were not serious cyclists, so electric bikes were the perfect way to achieve the distances with alternative transport back up where cycling was impractical. Excellent organisation and opportunity to learn about history and culture in both countries.”
“Fantastic trip, guides were great and accomodation outstanding. Got to try lots different food and experience areas that wouldn’t be able to do on our own”
“We were the only two people on this tour which allowed for some changes to be made to the bike route and itinerary. The biking through Vietnam and Cambodia was a real eye-opener and it was such a pleasure to experience the rural areas (with little traffic and few cars) and the people living there. Seeing and talking to the friendly local people and the excitement of the children wanting pictures with us was such a nice experience. And seeing the historical palaces, temples and Ankor Wat was such a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we thoroughly enjoyed.
Our guides were relatively local to the areas we biked, which offered a more personal experience to the tour and made us feel like we were always in a safe environment. The bikes were top of the line (including one eBike) and worked well the entire trip; the Guides were able to ensure they were always checked over every morning before we started. The distance we rode every day was just right for us and we usually completed our route early enough in the day to spend some relaxing time at the hotel pool.
Accommodations ranged from quaint little boutique places to very luxurious hotels like Raffles in Cambodia and Hotel Des Arts in Vietnam. The food was wonderful, ranging from local/traditional cuisine along the rural roads/pathways up to highly rated restaurants at the hotels we stayed at or close to the hotels.
We were a bit apprehensive about traveling to this area of the world for the first time but the Art of Bicycle Tours, the Guides and the Drivers made it one of the best trips we have had.
This was our first trip with this company and would like to do more. We would highly recommend this tour and The Art of Bicycling Tours.
Thank you for the great memories.
