“I'm the absolute worst at following up to write reviews for things that I've bought but I just wanted to say that the Fat Herbie wallet I bought from Phil is everything that I had hoped for. I bought a shell cordovan Johnnie the Fox in 2016 and it's still in awesome shape structurally but with all the lovely seasoning and patina you can expect with an aged wallet of four years. I have no doubt that these wallets should last a lifetime (or more!) with the proper care and conditioning.
As for the Fat Herbie, it'd been something I'd had my eye on for awhile now and I'm happy that I finally was able to buy one. I carry my wallet in the front pocket of my pants and I'm happy to say that the Fat Herbie does fit in my front pocket for those that might've had reservations about its size. It's also much thinner than the Johnny the Fox wallet.
Lastly, I want to end this by saying Phil's customer service was great. I forgot to request a monogram for my wallet and reached out to Phil and he followed up super fast to let me know that it wasn't a problem and he'd add the monogram. Also, a few weeks later he followed up with me and sent a video message thanking me for my purchase!
If you want an heirloom, buy-it-for-life wallet made of the highest quality leather that gets better with age I'm not sure you can do much better than Ashland Leather. Thanks so much for the awesome wallet and great service, Phil!”
“This wallet is very grand in its presentation. It has a rich depth of color that is hard to match. While it may seem that it would be a bit too large for the masses, I can assure you that it fits in your hand and in your back pocket perfectly. It could last decades, perhaps even centuries with the proper care. It’s great for all your future descendants!
If I had to nitpick, the wallet can become a bit on the bendy side across the middle since it is thinner than most This is because the card slots are stacked on top of each other rather than behind like a traditional wallet. It’s not that big of a deal though. It can straighten out easily and makes the wallet easier to sit on!

“Surprisingly fits in my front pocket, love the color. Next time I need to get one with reverse interior, as I forgot cordovan is abrasive against itself when closed, but it's not a big deal at all to polish out.”

“My first Shell Cordovan purchase, and it's everything Cordovan is reputed to be: smooth, glossy, and supple. The deep cash compartment is very spacious and useful. The card pockets offer plenty of room. Make no mistake, though, this is a large wallet. I can button the back pants pocket that holds it, but barely.
I was a bit disappointed to find that the wallet is machine stitched, and that the sewing foot left faint markings around the edges. The web description -- "With four full-sized card pockets hand-stitched in Horween Leather's world-renowned Shell Cordovan..." -- led me to believe the entire wallet was hand-stitched. Be that as it may, this is the finest wallet I've ever owned. I hope my heirs appreciate its value.”
