Recipe kit Chimay Blue Reviews

4.8 Rating 8 Reviews
Love the rich deep flavour, it's such a flavourful and rounded strong beer that gives a good buzz to the tastebuds and all over. It's easy to brew. You'll feel like a somewhat sinful Monk after a few of these thick and creamy Belgian beauties.

Fantastic Belgian Ale. Smooth and complex. I added brown sugar and fermented 15L. Turned out beautiful. I have ordered another kit.

Adjusted my recipe to make a 5 litre batch. Found that the kit was good for 2 batches. Just kept the half used kit in the fridge until I was ready for it. Although I was concerned about the mix being too much for 5l, turned out perfect. Hard to pick from the real chimay blue I'll get this again!

I've just put my second brew of this into bottles today and will be happily tasting it around Christmas. Makes a nice strong ale at the suggested volume but can also be easily adjusted by adding more liquid. It's quite a unique flavour. Not super dark and almost spiced I would say. I highly recommend giving it a crack.

Brewed this a few months ago and wow what a beer. I added the additional dark brown sugar and it really packs a punch. Tastes pretty close to the real thing. Pretty easy to put together with the steeping grains and hops. I've had it in bottles for 2 months and it came up a treat although for some reason I regrettably under carbonated it. Would do this one again ready for next winter.

Bottled 17-2-2021 (brewed 7-2). Taste tested on Easter Sunday. Got overwhelming comments from multiple relatives - but especially my wife, who only likes Chimay beer (usually a wine drinker). She says its better than the original!!. Beautiful creamy head, lots of chocolate & caramel flavors. Absolutely thrilled with results. Definitely recommend this brew - & reasonably easy to brew - just need ~2 hours & I am a novice!!
