“I had never used Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops before and that's what first attracted me to to this recipe. I thought it might have been brewed at lager temperatures but not so using a M54 Californian lager yeast. The final result showed it had more hop forward flavours which may have been attributed to using a different yeast. I think with this particular recipe there is a fine line between an actual lager and a ale. Colour was more towards an ale and not light if you are expecting a lighter Pilsner. Overall I rate it highly and you wouldn't be disappointed.”

We're delighted to hear that the use of Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops caught your attention and piqued your interest in this recipe. It's always exciting to try new flavors and experiment with different ingredients. We understand that the use of M54 Californian lager yeast might have given the final result a more hop-forward character, blurring the line between an actual lager and an ale.
