“I got Quail in my normal size 35 in Tangerine. In the past I've tried Bared (Brolga and Rhea) with no luck because the steel shank and heavy heels created knee stress. My sports physician said they were too supportive, so my knees weren't able to do their job. Light and flexible with good arch support is the right formula for me, and Quail has those qualities. There are two reasons why I didn't give 5 stars: (1) they fit large - when I remove the footbed to accommodate my 3/4 orthotics, the shoes become too big to walk in, so I'll have to wear them as they came in the box; and (2) they're high cut around the ankle so they press on my ankle bone.
Overall I'm really happy with my purchase and am now looking at Penguin as it has a similar last to Quail.”

Would you like us to send you some forefoot padding to help with the fit of the Quails and your orthotics? The forefoot padding sits underneath your orthotic at the front of the shoe to help with a more secure fit.

“Lovely shoes, just not too sure about them yet. Have worn them only twice in the office and they end up hurting my feet - I think it’s the position of the strap, and because they are suede they are (or at least feel) heavier than the other shoes I bought at the same time (Lapwing). That said, Bared shoes are my new favourite and have bought a couple more online - just haven’t had a chance to wear them yet! Definitely recommend.”
