“This is a review of the grey patent Quails. I have 5 other pairs of Bared shoes, and this pair are the first to leave me with blisters (on my heels and on my toes). The patent leather feels very stiff. Partly my fault for assuming that they would fit like my other Bared shoes and just wearing them for a day at work, but definitely not comfortable straight out of the box.”

I am so sorry to hear the Quails are giving you grief! We have been in contact with you, and are sending some gel spots which should hopefully reduce the rubbing. Patent leather is certainly less likely to soften up like smooth leather does.

“I love these shoes for my thin 3D-printed orthotics which easily fit inside my regular size 40. They are lightweight and suit many different outfit styles from casual to formal. I have a moderately wide forefoot and don't have an issue with rubbing but if you are on the wider side you might have to break these in with stretch spray. The thin strap is in exactly the right spot to contain the ankle and stop the heel from coming out of the shoe. Very considered design. Enjoy!”
