“I've only used this twice - at nepean and middle harbour. Good build quality, easy to pickup and paddle, good manoeuvrability. Takes my wife and I, a 4yo and a 5yo with adequate space. You do have to watch the wind but that's across all inflatables. I only fold lengthways for storage in garage but need to fully fold to get it into the back of the forester. I suggest keeping a watchfull eye on the fold points as this appears to be a weak spot due to repetitive folding. Inflating near 10 psi can get a little hard but doesn't take long especially with the decent hand pump provided which has dual settings. Iooking forward to taking this to myall lakes soon and other parts of Sydney. Finally, would like to know if a protectant such as 303 UV is good to apply?”
“Managed to get the airglide 473 out on the water with the family. The boat lived up the reviews I had read. Room for 2 adults and a teenager. Tracks well and quite stable given the relatively flat bottom. Set up was straight forward taking about 10 mins to inflate and install 3 seats. Definitely will need rudder system if considering to use as a single. Very happy with the purchase.”
“Bay Sports we’re easy to deal with and helped me decide on the best double kayak for our needs. The product seems to be quite robust and is easy to inflate and deflate and fits easily into the transport bag. I’ve paddled hard shell kayaks and this Air Glide 4.73 is quite ridged when inflated and tracks very much like a hard shell. Overall I’m very pleased with the Air Glide. Ian White”
“My wife and I bought this kayak because we live near the water but don't have storage space for a hardshell kayak. It's very easy to pump up (8 minutes) and get going. Thanks to this kayak we're now regulars on our local lake and are planning on-water adventures further afield.
The tandem is good for us as it allows one person to have a rest while the other keeps us moving.
There are 2 lengths available in the tandem in this kayak model (4.73 and 4.1m). We got the longer version because we're taller than average and I'm also keen on the idea of kayak camping. The longer version is wider than the 4.1m length. If you're worried about boat width and being able to pull the paddle through more vertically, then maybe try the narrower 4.1m version.
Once deflated, we leave the kayak out to air dry, then wipe down any last bits of moisture before folding it up and packing it away. This works well with this kayak, and should prevent mold/smells from developing from packing away a wet boat. I've read that non-dropstitch inflatable kayaks are harder to get fully dry like this.”
