“Easy to inflate. Very well constructed (no thin canvas wrapped around a fragile bladder on this unit)and feels very robust. Reminds me of how my inflatable boat is constructed. In the water I found it reasonably stable. I love the fact that due to it's constuction technique there is a lot of internal room, and feels nice and rigid on the water. OK.. now for some constructive suggestions. Nothing earth shattering.. but please consider the following. No manual in the box. Hamish emailed me the link.. but did not have internet at the launch site..lol I mainly needed to know the correct inflation pressure.. all inflatable watercraft I own have the correct inflation pressure screen printed near the valves, and also a compliance/information plate. I would recommend some sort of spec 'plate'(weight/loading, serial No/ basic safety warnings etc) in a very visible location. The only other thing I will be doing is adding a small velcro track to keep the seat base in place. Ok.. the contructive bit is over.. To conclude.. it is an awesome canoe for this price bracket and look forward to many years of canoeing. Seriously.. I have just started my second childhood.”
“We've put 50+ km on this kayak for the past 2 or 3 weeks and have been enjoying it every minutes.
Pros:
- quite stable and spacious. Light and easy to transport and easy to paddle. That's the primary reason as we travel at lot at weekend and my wife and I can't handle the weight of conventional tandem kayak.
- easy to pick up speed and maneuver on flat water. As beginners we easily reach 6km/h and avg 5km/h for a 12km trip.
- can be used as a SUP, and I even kayak fish on it with great results!
Cons:
- we found the skeg is necessary for novice tandem kayakers like us. Without it we struggle to maintain a straight line on flat water on a calm day. But we manage to go straight finally after practicing. However with the skeg it is somehow very difficult to turn in a windy condition. We guess maybe a smaller skeg will help? Normal sweep stroke isn't enough to make a turn.
- not that suitable in beam wind (crosswind) condition. Maybe all inflatables with high side walls behave like this inevitably. However we tried on a 25-30 km/h wind day on Port Phillip Bay and it is quite fine to paddle! Just a little bit tiring in crosswind.
Summary:
With only 3 prior kayaking experiences this is definitely a best choice for us beginners. This is definitely a first choice for people who want to travel far and go a bit further beyond recreational kayaking. I think 20+km touring on it is quite easy on flat water.”
“Purchased Air Glide from Bay Sports - very pleased with the whole transaction from start to finish. Kayak quality is excellent - better than expected. Handles well on the water, stable for my wife, kid and dog on board. And easy enough to pack away - and fast too.
Highly recommend Bay Sports and this inflatable kayak.”
“A good 2 person kayak. Easy to assemble (inflate), stores well (as it deflates)...but good luck getting it back into the bag it came! We made straps to go around and store the paddles, life vests etc. in the bag. We have had hours of fun and it is very sturdy considering it is inflatable.”
