“It is a little unstable in calm water but is great for surfing - catches waves with ease - except it won't slide sideways because of the ridges - but it does track well and is easy to steer. Feels quite seaworthy in rough conditions.”
“We live in Western Australia, in Mandurah - with lots of estuaries, the ocean and rivers. I had lots of great advice from the sales team at Baysports and picked up my kayak from Rockingham in WA, no problem. This is not my only kayak but I like this one the best so far. Light, quick and I enjoy it. A couple of other people in the family have used it and were not impressed - they thought it a bit unstable and "tippy". I wobbled a bit at first for a time or two, but now I know my kayak very well and I feel safe and stable in it (even when sometimes nudged by over friendly dolphins I don't feel in danger of flipping over). I use a trolley to wheel my kayak over the road to the estuary - I haven't found any problem transporting it.
There are a couple of things that could be better. The indentation for a water bottle needs to be deeper - your water bottle won't stand upright - too shallow. And some of our other kayaks have bung holes in the rear that mean you can put the prongs of your upside kayak trolley in them without disassembling same - handy.
But overall, the service, product and arrangement for pick up from Baysports affiliation - great. Would I recommend a Speedy kayak? Yes - be prepared to not be enthused initially, but persist, and there us every chance you will end up like me - super happy with it.”
“Very pleased with the kayaks performance - it is fast to paddle on the water, and i love the deep grooved seat, feels secure and stable. I read comment the side handles aren't deep enough .. but I find them excellent, they are easy to grip and make it easy to carry the kayak. Good kayak for harbour and river/estuary paddling, up the Nepean and on Sydney Harbour I have paddled so far. Fun times.
