“Good selection of beers and nice to have a mix of bottles and cans. Perhaps a little too heavy on the IPA / APA contingent, but enough variety to please most drinkers, I suspect, and the Beavertown smoked porter was very good. I guess with any ‘craft’ beer selection there’s always going to be a key issue for me, which presumably can’t be helped by any beer merchant: The cans and bottles are too small. Yes, I know it’s supposed to be trendy and we’re all supposed to quaff the stuff out of fancy little glasses, and have tasting sessions like wine buffs, licking our hipster beards in intelligent appreciation, but at the end of the day, it’s beer. And beer should come in containers no smaller than 500ml, unless the ABV is north of 9%. I understand you can get some larger 440ml cans, But most of these are about 6-8 quid a pop. Craft beer is great, but it needs to calm itself down a bit. It tastes great, but so does the ‘old beer’ and there’s more than an element of Emporer’s new clothes, being cranked up by marketing types. Apologies if pointing that out is heresy in some way.”
