“The sensor combo was easy to install. I might have liked a longer connector as 30" is not as far as you think when you realize where the previous owner installed the irrigation controller, but it worked out and is very easy to get to and open up to see the status. The sensor came with very easy to follow installation and setup instructions, although no one really seems to tell you how much rain to allow for when setting it up. I chose the 1/4" setting and with the 48 hour delay after a rain that filled up the sensor, it worked fine.
The graphical display is easy to read, after you familiarize yourself with it. I get the feeling that this was designed several years ago or the display is not that modern. It is functional but seems to have an older graphical nature that could be updated.”
“This is the improved version of the Sensor Combo they have had. I complained to Rain Bird Engineers about three years ago because they did not have the option in the software to set an automatic delay function. I envisioned they would give us a choice of 1, 2, 3, and 4 days. Instead what they finally gave us is an automatic 2 day delay (48 hr.) once the sensor has tripped. I can live with that. The Sensor trips on water set point and it is two days before it goes active again. That saves a ton of water, especially in the clay soils of North Texas. Of all the rain / temp sensors out there I like the Rain Bird the best. I install them even if my customers order a different brand unit for me to install. I may not agree with the Controller they choose but the rain / temp sensor is a Rain Bird every time.”
“I do like the fact that the transmitter batteries can be replaced. The programmable functions available do make sense. One must Note: that although the rain indicator gives you the impression that it is graduated scale, it is truly an all or nothing indicator (I have several and they All work the same way) ...
The 48 Rain Delay is and Excellent Feature.
RainBird: I hope that in the future that the Rain Delay also becomes a programmable feature...
And I hope that Rainbird starts re-selling a replacement Disc Assembly !!!
