“I was skeptical that this device with its simple swellable membrane (in this case, cork) could accurately measure rainfall, but after using it for two weeks (and three rain events), it seems to be doing its job and prevented the irrigation system from running when the ground was wet. However, the rain indicator that is calibrated in 1/8" increments does not appear to be even remotely accurate, as it either indicates no rain, or 1/2". I'm not too concerned about this as it does do what I wanted it to: turn off the irrigation when it rains. So far, so good. Also, the layout of the LCD display is rather funky but you get used to it.”
