“I have started taking inositol for my PCOS, as my last cycle is on the 92 day and I still haven't got my period. I'm 30 years old and I used to have pretty regular periods in the last 10 years or so (except for one year when I was 18, when I had amenorrhea), but lately my periods have become very irregular again. I would like to achieve more regular ovulations and more regular periods, and hopefully inositol will help with that. I'm of normal body weight and always have been. I have done ovulation prediction LH tests in the last 6 months or so, prior to having started taking inositol, and I don't have constantly elevated LH, just on one day prior to ovulation (when I do ovulate, which I have only 2 times in the last 6 months), while most/many women with PCOS have constantly elevated LH levels. I have been taking 1800 mg of inositol (three 1/4 teaspoons) twice a day (twice the recommended amount on the bottle) as up to 4000 mg were used in the studies for PCOS (but I don't recommend you take a higher dose, unless you talk to your doctor first). I have been taking it for 2 to 3 weeks already, but I still haven't got my period. Supposedly it can take up to 3 months to work.
The powder is white, I put it in a glass of water and it gives it a very slightly sweet taste, which is rather pleasant. It is no problem to take.
I have contacted the manufacturer and it is myo-inositol.”
