Stimulator Red / 6 Reviews

I guess it depends where you're fishing it, but this has been a great fly for me in Yellowstone in the summer. I can recall a two-day stretch in which it's the only fly I fished, changing only the size and/or color.

Great Fly. Holds up well. I put this on early evening after a couple hours of no bites. Fish were lighting this thing up! Caught a beautiful 14 inch brook trout.

This is one of my favorite fly's besides maybe the Parachute Adams. I've caught countless trout with stimulators, they even in Puget Sound for sea run cutthroat. I seem to have the best luck with olive.

This pattern.with or without legs in sizes 8 to 14 has been one of my most productive flies on Alberta rivers.

I guess it's inevitable but a fisherman tires of catching dinky trout and elects to try for bigger targets. That's where the Stimulator is selected. Particularly the yellow-bodied models @ size 10 or 12. The Stimi has a lot going for it. Size, bulk, appearance and just plain attitude. It floats nice and high so you can see it. It's bright so you can see it. It's got appealing fibers sticking up all over the place so you can see it. The fish see it too and strike it hard. Esp big fish.
