“First got it with the Big Y Standard Euro nymph set up. Great reel, had it for two years until it got run over by a semi (uh, don't ask). Even this super durable reel couldn't tackle that, so while I was facing several days of camping without my favorite reel, rather than run out to a shop and buy some overpriced "name" reel, I decided to wait and re-order a Big Y standard reel. I knew for the price and performance, it would be worth it. It out performs reels two or three times the price. Light, great drag, tight tolerances. Best reel I have ever owned. As long as you don't let a semi run over it going 70 miles an hour on a freeway, this reel will be around for a long time. Five stars plus in my opinion.”

Cannot believe the quality of this reel for the price. nicely finished drag is fantastic, and the bearings are so unbelievably smooth; this reel free spools with a flick. coming from someone who has a clearwater reel, i would purchase another one of these over another orvis reel anyday.”
“Looked for a good reel in this price range and decided on the BigY standard. When I first pulled it out of the box I thought it felt kind of "cheap" compared to another I have in the price range. I was way wrong. Its a bit heavier than my other reels but it is solid. It is nothing but a workhorse reel, built to handle the hours on the water and abuse I have put it through. I really like how the reel has a screw knob set up to hold the reel onto the frame, solid, no spring loaded devices to fail. Has performed perfectly. Toss it down on the bank to unhook a fish and no junk gets in and no damage. Built to last.”

I ordered this on Wednesday and it was waiting on my doorstep when I got home today along with a bonus item.
