“Got this one for Christmas in the 5wt after fishing for a while with a BigY Standard in the 4wt & 6Wt. I really like the BigY standard combo, the action is very good for nymphing and dries and I really didn't expect a difference between the Standard and the Boss rod. There is a noticeable difference between the two rods. While the Standard is a good rod with good action the Boss rod just feels like it has more "oomph" when casting. I can shoot my line a lot better with the Boss vs the Standard. I am a fan of both rods however and it comes down to what you want to spend. I swing wet flies on both, run nymph rigs and toss dries/dry-droppers with no issues. I probably wouldn't throw heavy streamers on sink tip lines with either as the rod feels a little overpowered then I tried it with these rods. I will work but doesn't feel as good as a rod with a little more stiffness in it. Other than that the Boss is my "go-to" rod now in the 5wt range, with the Standard following up a close second. The price for the combo package is a great deal.”
“Unreal combo for the price. I paired the 5wt with the General reel and SA Amplitude MPX line. I have used it for a couple months now and would highly recommend it. You will not find a better set up for the price.”

“Rod worked great. My girlfriend, loves her new rod and reel!! The 6 weight made it much easier for her to handle these river fish and mend. We were fishing the Bighorn river in Wyoming using midge and Baetis nymphs.”
